Associate Director of Population Sciences

Serving on the senior leadership team of Hollings, the successful candidate will build and develop the cancer center’s nationally recognized research in population sciences with the aim of reducing the cancer burden on its uniquely diverse 46-county catchment area, which includes significant Black and growing Hispanic/Latino communities, low-income communities, and communities residing in rural locations, as well as older adults and those who are under-resourced economically.

The AD will bring an extensive track record as a federally-funded investigator focused on population-based cancer research, ideally in cancer epidemiology, a collaborative approach to leadership, and a management style that supports the mentoring of junior investigators.

Director of Cancer Research Development

The Hollings Director of Cancer Research Development plays a crucial role in securing funding for cancer-focused research projects and advancing scientific initiatives for the cancer center. Responsibilities include leadership and oversight for the development, refinement, and management of grant proposals ranging from individual-investigator to large-scale, multi-institutional grants, including center or program project grants; creates scientifically accurate and compelling content, such as research papers, reports, and scientific articles; identifies appropriate funding opportunities from government agencies, foundations, and other relevant sources that contribute to Hollings' success in attracting funding.

Expertise in grant development, scientific writing, and project management will be essential in driving scientific progress and securing resources for impactful research projects at Hollings.

Nurse Scientist

The College of Nursing, Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) and NCI-designated MUSC Hollings Cancer Center are seeking applicants of exceptional potential and emerging scholarship for the position of Senior Scholar. The successful candidate will be appointed as a tenure-track Associate or Full Professor, depending upon experience and qualifications. Candidates from backgrounds underrepresented in nursing, medicine, and/or science are strongly encouraged to apply.

As a major research university, we are well positioned to support faculty candidates who have strong or developing programs of research in areas of adult oncology, cancer survivorship, and cancer care delivery and outcomes. Preference will be given to applicants with active research that aligns with the position; consideration will be given to the applicants with projects of research within the last five years that align with the position. Research is encouraged to focus on the cancer center’s catchment area, which features a high proportion of patients who are racially and ethnically diverse, rural, and medically underserved. This faculty appointment would include mentorship of junior faculty and students and emphasize relationship building with our community of investigators to progress programs of research consistent with the college and cancer center missions.
