K12 Paul Calabresi Career Development for Clinical & Translational Oncology Program

About the Program

The goal of the K12 Paul Calabresi Career Development for Clinical & Translational Oncology Program is to train successful, patient-oriented, clinical- and laboratory-based investigators who can work effectively in a collaborative, translational research setting. Each K12 Junior Faculty Scholar will be provided salary support and an expert mentoring team along with the resources to complete tailored coursework, clinical and laboratory research rotations, and projects towards establishing new, effective cancer interventions.

Program Leadership

John Wrangle, M.D., is the Program Director and Craig Lockhart, M.D., is the Associate Director of the K12 Paul Calabresi Career Development for Clinical and Translational Oncology Program. Together, they manage all aspects of the program and work closely with the scholars to ensure they are obtaining their goals.

Dr. Wrangle provides consultation to investigators as they navigate the trial development process. Whether it is connecting to potential funding partners or facilitating collaboration among other researchers at MUSC or other cancer centers, HART supports the efficient activation of new investigator-initiated clinical trials.

A. Craig Lockhart, M.D., MHS, FASCO, is Chief of the Division of Hematology & Oncology in the MUSC Department of Medicine and Associate Director of Clinical Science at Hollings Cancer Center. With over 20 years of experience conducting clinical trials, a key part of his role as Associate Director is facilitating efforts to bring scientific discoveries from Hollings' laboratories into clinical application through clinical trials.
