Dr. Mark R. Green Young Investigator Award Application Instructions

Full applications must be submitted by email as a single PDF file to Brett Bechtol (bechtolb@musc.eduby 5 p.m. on the first Monday of October. Questions may also be submitted at any time before the deadline. This award and its timeline are completed on an annual basis.

Instructions

Complete applications must include and meet the following criteria. Incomplete submissions will not be evaluated.

  • Format: Use standard 11-point Arial font, single spaced, and half-inch margins throughout the application. Consecutively number all pages.
  • NIH-format Biosketch.
  • Description of course/conference to be attended and how attendance will benefit the applicant (1-page limit).
  • Description of research interest and career goals (1-page limit).
  • Letter of support from mentor(s).
  • Budget and brief justification of funds, which must be used in the calendar year and may cover:
    • Travel, hotel, meal per diem (reimbursed)
    • Registration fee for research workshop, retreat or symposia (paid in advance)

Awardee Expectations

  • Recipients will be required to complete a progress report that includes how the travel experience impacted their research and future directions. This report is due at the completion of the calendar year.
  • A presentation of their research project may also be required.
