Junior Faculty Programs

K12 Paul Calabresi Career Development for Clinical & Translational Oncology Program

The goal of the K12 Paul Calabresi Career Development for Clinical & Translational Oncology Program is to train successful, patient-oriented, clinical- and laboratory-based investigators who can work effectively in a collaborative, translational research setting. Each K12 Junior Faculty Scholar will be provided salary support and an expert mentoring team along with individualized course work, clinical and laboratory research rotations, and mentored research support to establish new, effective cancer interventions.

American Cancer Society Institutional Research Grant

MUSC Hollings Cancer Center's American Cancer Society Institutional Research Grant (ACS IRG) is one of the largest ACS IRG awards in the nation, with seven $30,000 awards given annually. This pilot research funding mechanism requires a mentorship and career development plan to accompany each application. ACS IRG award recipients have demonstrated exceptional return on investment, with more than 44% moving on to independently-funded investigator positions.

Clinical Scholar Program

The Clinical Scholar program provides outstanding assistant professors or recently appointed (less than two years) associate professors dedicated time to spend on cancer-related clinical investigations. Clinical Scholars will receive 20% salary funding for up to two years and an additional $5,000 in discretionary funding to support research activities.
